Myths About Medicare
Myth 1:
MAPD will pay your Part B Premium
The Facts:
Myth 2:
Medicare Advantage plan offers better coverage than a Part D prescription drug plan.
Myth 2:
Medicare Advantage plan offers better coverage than a Part D prescription drug plan.
The Facts
They offer the same type of coverage. There’s no difference in a Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plan and a stand-alone Part D plan. They offer the same comprehensive coverage.
Myth 3:
You can switch between a Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan (MAPD) and Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan
The Facts
This is not true because a Medigap plan is medically under written after your guaranteed issue age of 65. When you first turn 65 you can qualify for a Medicare Supplement plan with no medical underwriting. Yet after age 65 if you have had some major health issue: stroke, cancer, ESRD, etc. You will not qualify for a Medicare Supplement plan. Therefore, I recommend finding a broker you can trust to help you make the best decision for your health and financial needs.
